Escaping the Dole with Sindy: Why Blog?...I'm a suburban homesteader living in social housing in the UK on a self-reliance journey to financial freedom from dependence on the system. Hubby and I have been out of necessity and disability, dependant on society but our desire is to find a way to be free again. It's our aim to find a way to contribute to that society which has provided for and kept us for a while but the system by which that support comes can become a prison. Technological advancements and the availability of knowledge shared by people have contributed to finally making progress possible. We have begun the escape. It's time to give back. With the help of people who want to support our journey, we can in turn serve by helping others find hope, inspiration, tools and instruction to help them do the same. I have been sharing the journey on my YouTube channel, Blue Garden Cottage and Facebook page of the same name. I have written a book, Escaping the Dole to Blue Garden Cottage and am working on podcasts, blogs, digital income streams to make the escape complete. For now it's a 'how I do it' until we have done it and then it will become a 'this is how you can do it too'.
