3) Personal Daily Routines.
Start as You Mean to Go On
What does your daily routine look like and how is it helping you to
achieve your goals? Is your routine serving you in doing just that?
Continuing the 1st Things 1st
theme, I have been deliberately working on my personal routines in how I start
my day. As the saying goes...Start as you mean to go on".
I intend to use the time I have wisely and do all I can to be productive
in it. I intend to be successful in health, faith, business, home and
relationships. Where better to start than with myself.
So as energy flows both ways, I receive all the best energy I can from
around me, choosing to reject anything that will halt, interfere or slow
progress unless it is part of a learning experience that will help me grow. After
all, we cannot know the sweet without tasting the bitter. I won't invite it but
when it comes, I will learn from it.
I DO invite the sweet and good energy and events deliberately being
selective of what I expose myself to and choose my routines. Spiritual/mental
and emotional first, physical health next and then work are my usual list first
thing in the morning.
In my personal opinion, most important is my own mental and physical
health so that I am able to take care of the most important aspects of my life;
Family, home, faith and then work, Church callings and ministering (checking up
on folk and fellowshipping with those I have been given spiritual stewardship
over).
For practicality’s sake I structure my day to start with those things
that I wouldn’t be able to do once the day starts and hubby gets up. After that
it’s all home and family.
I have just started using my Kanban board again. It has been valuable in managing my many juggling plates.
So here is a general summary of a usual timetable for me;
1.
Between 3am and 4:30am. Get dressed, drink water and get
studying scriptures, talks, uplifting music and pondering as well as
journaling.
2.
Between 4:30am and 5am. Pilates for beginners and
particularly for hiatus hernia.
3.
Between 5am and 7:30am. Business (whatever is scheduled; content, writing and digital product creation).
4.
7:30am and 8am. Prepare breakfast ready (usually
porridge, homemade muesli, sometimes toast but trying gluten free and sometimes I even like soup or supper leftovers) and make
sure we let Buttons (our elderly dog) out after her breakfast.
5.
Between 8:30am and 7pm. All focus is on any appointments, homesteading
and projects, family help, etc.
6. Between 7pm and around 8pm. Hubby and I just chill together, chatting or watching our favourite YouTube channels. Then it's bed by 9pm (not that I normally sleep properly)
That’s the usual routine but as life is never THAT simple or predictable
all of the time. Life happens and we have to prioritise the most important and
urgent things despite our set plans and routines.
It’s important to keep our timetables and routines and in fact, our
lives flexible enough to adapt and not fall apart when the unexpected or
unscheduled happens.
My physical, mental and spiritual health is now at the top of my list of priorities to help me manage my full life with a smile on my face and on the days that I struggle to manage a smile, It makes me grateful for all the wonderful things in my life.
I do believe that when we put first things first, life tends to be a
little easier to navigate and we are more likely to succeed in our goals. Trials
will become opportunities. We will grow. Our abilities will increase and our
minds will be expanded. We CAN come up smelling of roses when life happens in a
way we’d rather it wouldn’t.
That’s my hope for you.
I look forward to hearing from you.
